Responsibilities

Job Description:

 

The Cartographer shall compile geospatial information as feature (point, line, or area) and terrain data from selected source materials, utilizing photogrammetric techniques. Additionally, they shall utilize an understanding of geography, remote sensing, spatial analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), intelligence issues, and social and physical sciences to create information, characterize events, and discover relationships and trends.

 

 

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with customer analysts to exploit, analyze, report, and disseminate information for the benefit of decision maker
  • Participate in the production and cartographic finishing of the full range of customer GEOINT products including the effective briefing of presentations
  • Manipulate, manage, and maintain geospatial database content
  • Validate geospatial database content using industry standard quality control tools
  • Create, update, and manage geospatial datasets to support GEOINT production

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 11-20 years of cartographic finishing, feature extraction, and data content management related experience required
  • Superior knowledge of several NGA products such as: Controlled Image Base (CIB1), Topographic Line Maps (TLMs), Multi-national Geospatial Co-Production Program (MGCP) products, MGCP Derived Graphics (MDG), Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), National Technical Means 9NTM) in boundary recovery processes, including data retrieval and storage
  • Superior knowledge of feature data extraction and attribution process
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with data quality control tools such as: Geospatial Analysis Inspection Tool (GAIT), ArcGIS Data ReViewer, or comparable geospatial data inspection software
  • Superior knowledge of commonly used NGA cartographic analysis and feature extraction software suites such as ESRI, ArcGIS, Socet-Set, RemoteView, or comparable ELT software
  • Very knowledgeable on intelligence organizations and systems; collecting and reporting systems, intelligence information sources; techniques of identifying, collating, evaluating, and analyzing information
  • Experience with combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and digital data formats
  • Superior knowledge of geographical and cultural aspects of foreign countires
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN

Desired Skills:

  • Attended a basic Intelligence Course
  • Experience using data mining tools and open source research methods
  • Expereince managing or maintaining relational database management systems, such as Oracle Spatial or ArcSDE
  • Experience with application engineering, system administration, or software configuration of industry standard geospatial analysis and production software

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
