    Job Description:


    As a Information Technology Specialist, you will be working on cutting edge Air Force technology that directly supports the warfighter.


    Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

    • Support quality assurance activities for web-based and mobile software, products, and programs. Provide support with the analysis, design, programming, and testing of solutions.

    • Analyze the technical debt and identify ways to address the gaps and implement solutions.

    • Participates in teaching and training members of work team. Assist in technology stack, data analytics, continuous integration, process improvements/automation, and agile process efforts.

    • Continually evaluate new and emerging concepts to drive recommendations for MPC leadership.

    • Fosters an open culture of collaboration and innovation within the team and with other functions.

    • Analyze/evaluate MPC and associated support systems and networks to recommend changes and upgrades to MPC and 99 RS leadership to maximize weapon system efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain MPC information technologies.

    • Monitor regulatory compliance for all MPC hardware, software, and network infrastructure.

    • Maintain MPC video teleconference and associated audio visual equipment.

    • Perform basic configuration management and initial system diagnostics on desktop computers, laptops, operating systems, and productivity software.

    • Evaluate and recommend changes to current/future network requirements to meet MPC needs.

    • Provide analytical, technical, functional and management support by coordinating and troubleshooting logistical issues and plans sustaining MPC continued mission support activities.

    • Network Management: Perform daily network management, control, and administration of information flow in Network Management (NM), Help Desk (HD), Information Protection Operations (IPO), and Network Administration (NA). Oversee network configuration, faults, performances, and security management through HD, IPO, and NA functions.

    • Configuration Management: Support installation and management of hardware/software at the operating system level.

    • Security Management: Follow national, Department of Defense (DoD), and Air Force security policies and directives both verbal and written reports for non- compliance issues.

    • Identify and characterize incidents and generates incident reports regarding suspicious network activity.

    • Maintain IT Equipment inventory rosters.

    • Ensure Technical Orders and supporting software are sent to Forward Operating Locations as required.

    • Assist in furthering U-2 Research & Development Laboratory initiatives.

    • Provide system administration support to include build up/tear down of AFMSS hardware, installation and maintenance of mission planning and associated software and databases, including: Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF); Chart Information Chart Update (CICU); and 24/7/365 maintenance of these systems. Provide technical expertise to resolve mission planning software/hardware problems for all U-2 operating locations, both CONUS and OCONUS. Load, backup and restore mission planning databases monthly. Transfer navigation plans and databases via appropriate media. Prepare AFMSS and laptop mission planning systems for deployment. Maintain knowledge in supply procedures to cover re-supply of consumables and replacements of AFMSS and PC parts. Maintain a technical order distribution plan to keep all operating locations current in required AFMSS support products. Contractor Mission Planners shall attend Air Force Mission Support System (AMFSS) System Administrator training at Beale AFB, CA within 180 days of employment.

    • Install system upgrades at each overseas location when necessary. Reference Table 3 for travel projection. This task will not be required more than once annually.

    • The Contractor will ensure U-2 iPad & Mac device administration, manage U-2 commercial internet & WiFi network(s), coordinate with AF and private sector agencies as required, and take the lead on establishing the classified mission iPad program. The Contractor will also assist in technology recapitalization efforts regarding new AFNET and Apple software/hardware.

    • (1) test in-stock hardware to determine functional status, (2) run diagnostic suites on Dell, Sun and HP servers, (3) assist in the installation, racking, and cabling of equipment, (4) run, terminate, and test cables, (5) Monitor equipment and facilities, (6) Inspect & troubleshoot issues around electrical and mechanical equipment, (7) Continuously research, evaluate, and implement best practices in power & data cable management, and (8) Manage, monitor, and report on data center environment status


    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Previous experience as an Information Technology Specialist.

    • Security+ CE (or higher), SSCP, or GSEC

    • Strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills.

    • Ability to maintain Windows and UNIX operating systems, associated technologies, and interoperability.

    • Candidate must have the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas, processes, and technical data in written, graphical, and verbal mediums to technical and non-technical audience.

    Mac OS X and Server administration.

    • iOS Mobile Device Management (MDM) and deployment.
    • Ability to operate Apple Configurator and manage Volume Purchase Program (VPP) and Device Enrollment Program (DEP) for Apple devices.
    • Utilize cloud based Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools (i.e. MobileIron, etc).
    • Write scripts and automation tools for Apple device management, Apple TV, and Mac OS devices.
    • Manage small to medium scale enterprise environment with 200-300 Apple devices. Ability to manage security controls, concept of operations, and sustainment.
    • Manage commercial internet and Wi-Fi connection.

    Desired Skills:

    • Configure and manage enterprise grade hardware/network

    • Familiarity with USAF cybersecurity policy and written guidance.

    Education & Certifications:


    • Associate's degree in an Information Technology or related field (preferred)
